2-12-15 On Finding and Losing

Back of the Choir

Jesus-washing-feet

If you think carnal life a splendid thing

Without acknowledging the Savior’s role,

If you admire your hedonistic fling,

You’ll find your life right here but lose your soul.

How tragic choosing tin instead of gold,

To throw away the altar for the gift!

Instead, stand up for Jesus and be bold,

For corporeal life goes by so swift.

Eternity is more than meets the eye

To those of us who choose the life divine.

We serve the Lord and seek the by and by;

To lose our lives for Christ’s the starting line.

What choices will you make this mortal blink?

The time has come; it’s later than you think.

~~~~~~~~~~~
He that findeth his life shall lose it:
and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 10:39 KJV
      Thank you so much, my friend. Thank God, for it is His Spirit that had manifested every word, every phrase. Before I was sanctioned by the Spirit to write a scripture-based sonnet every day (since Nov. of 2013), I was hardly involved with poetry at all and had not written one in decades. Now a book is published of the first of these writings, and the proceeds go toward giving copies to the indigent. You can find it on Amazon and Kindle, called “Sonnets in the Key of Christ” http://www.amazon.com/Sonnets-Key-Christ-Scriptural-Devotions/dp/1502818132/
      I am grateful for your kind words. May you continue to draw closer to the Lord, dear friend.
