1-31-15 A heritage of the Lord

Back of the Choir

the-cutest-little

A parent’s greatest joy should be their child,

A gift from God, creation at its best,

Especially an offspring good and mild

To leave all those who meet her surely blessed.

They love their child before she leaves the womb,

And magnifies it with each breath she takes;

So Jesus loves us ere we come in bloom,

And with the Spirit’s breath we came awake.

When we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord,

Then Heaven cheers our second day of birth;

The Savior’s bliss is this His own reward

To know a part of Him is on the Earth.

The heritage of Christ belongs to those

Who left the cross with Him, the ones He chose.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:

and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

1-30-14 Obedience

Back of the Choir

obedience

Obedience is crucial as a child

Who does not have a full awareness yet,

As such maturity will get him riled

Then later to be filled with some regret.

But if he does the things that he is told

By those who really want him to evolve,

He’ll take the Lord’s commandments to uphold

In love to God and from his own resolve.

But he that doesn’t care to thus obey

The rules of his own parents or his God

Will lack the skills of life and then fall prey

To Satan’s will whose way is wide and broad.

Obey the smaller things when you are young,

And you will climb with ease the highest rung.

~~~~~~~~~~~
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;
but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
Proverbs 19:16 KJV
1-29-15 Owe Love
Back of the Choir
love one another
If you must be in debt repay it fast,
For who would want to be beneath a thumb?
You also want to make good credit last,
So if you borrow take a lesser sum.
There is one thing that you should always owe:
The love for one another all the time.
You owe your brother love, and make it show;
Without God’s grace your life’s not worth a dime.
God gave you all you need to love your friend,
And all the love you need to love a foe,
And love the stranger, too, without amend,
For God has thus commanded that you owe.
You never can repay God’s gift to you,
But loving one another’s how you do.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:

for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law

1-28-15 Celebration!

Back of the Choir

celebration

When you are freed by Jesus from all sin

And come down off the cross a new born man,

The joy that floods your heart will then begin

Like Jews from Babylon that homeward ran.

The chains of slavery are now removed;

You climb from darkness to a warming light.

The promise of salvation has been proved

For now you’re led with peace and fresh delight.

It seems the very hills sing out in glee,

And all the birds praise Jesus with one voice:

“Another soul is saved! Now glory be!”

The Holy Spirit swells and we rejoice.

That rustling sound you hear is clapping trees;

The news of your redemption’s on the breeze!

~~~~~~~~~~~
For ye shall go out with joy,
and be led forth with peace:
the mountains and the hills shall break forth
before you into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their
1-27-15 Nothing
Back of the Choir
Mortality
The moment you were born you did not bring
A whit beyond the barest flesh and bone;
You do not really own a single thing
Belonging to this world of wood and stone,
And all the stuff that you accumulate,
No matter what it’s worth to mortal man,
Will still be here when you leave this estate;
In fact you’ll have the same as you began.
Be grateful for the things that you possess
For it can all be gone within a flash;
The only matter you should dare obsess
Is being more like Christ, His way suffice.
From nothing bodies come, to nothing go
Yet all you do between your soul will show.
For we brought nothing into this world,
and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1-26-15 A Friend’s Reproof
Back of the Choir
friendly reproof
You are my friend, and friend you’ll always be
If I say something wrong and you speak up,
For such rebuke from you is wine to me:
First tart then sweet to drink your chiding cup.
I may not like your criticism now
But you speak from a heart of love and care.
Much more from you than others I’d allow;
Their motives may not be sincere and fair.
An enemy may flatter with his tongue
But stab you in the back first chance he gets.
A kiss from Judas, then the armed crowd sprung;
He was no friend of Jesus when they met.
Your admonition, friend, is better than
The stench from some perfume some foe would fan.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Faithful are the wounds of a friend;

but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

1-25-15 Keeping His Word

Back of the Choir

abode

The words of Christ are written in your heart

And whispered through the Spirit constantly,

And if you in your love for Him take part,

Then faithful to the Father you will be.

O, nothing can compare to God’s full Grace!

His love is all encompassing and pure,

When once you felt apart, now in its place

There is no separation to obscure.

As you obey and live the words of Christ

A process of regeneration starts

Resulting in a Oneness so sufficed,

That Home is everywhere that love imparts.

Have faith in Jesus, He that died for you

To give through God eternal life anew.

~~~~~~~~~~~
 If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him,
and make our abode with him.
1-24-15 Take Comfort
Back of the Choir
tears
A friend of many years has passed away,
Their pain and sorrow will be borne no more,
Yet there goes half your night and half your day;
Anf half your broken heart is on the floor.
Take comfort in the Savior’s arms today
 And lean your tired head against His chest;
He holds you tight and wipes your tears away,
He whispers in your ear and gives you rest.
The world it seems no longer is attuned;
In fact it seems it’s crumbled all apart.
Take comfort in the Lord, He’ll bind your wound;
In time He’ll even heal your broken heart.
Your friend has left this place for glory’s light;
She’s taking comfort in Christ’s love tonight.
He healeth the broken in heart,
and bindeth up their wounds.
1-23-15 On Righteousness
Back of the Choir
hunger-and-thirst-for-righteousness
You haven’t wanted righteousness enough
Until you thirst and hunger nigh to death,
Your limbs grown weak, your voice turned lean and rough
And righteousness as precious as your breath.
You argue that the times won’t stand for that;
You’d lose your job and end up on the street.
The cost of righteousness won’t leave you fat;
You won’t know hunger when you always eat.
This world’s a desert void of drink or food,
But there’s a well to slake the weary soul.
You cannot take a sip till you’re subdued
And righteousness becomes your only goal.
For few are chosen although many called;
To gain true righteousness one must have crawled.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst

after righteousness:

for they shall be filled.

1-22-15 To the Elders

Back of the Choir

shepherd

The elders of the church have thus been tasked

To shepherd well the members of their church,

To volunteer their time and not be asked,

To be assessible without a search.

This is not any job from nine to five;

Responsibilities are round the clock,

To act not with constraint but always strive

To help all with their needs without a squawk.

The love of Christ is present in you all,

Regardless of your status in the fold.

Not one of you are too high not to fall;

Not one of you are too low to remold.

To oversee the flock you have to be

A servant to them all and happily.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Feed the flock of God which is among you,
taking the oversight thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly;
not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind
