12-6-14 Manifested

Would you, my friend, send out your only son,

To such a place where he’d be scourged and killed,

To save a wayward world who’d largely shun

The love he gave to have your will fulfilled?

God knew the world was doomed, so steeped in sin,

His Son would have to die so we could live,

And not just die, but sacrificed wherein

We’d not just live, but He our sins forgive.

How great a love is this! It makes me weep

To comprehend the pain we put Him through,

But still, O friend! God’s will He still did keep

That we might have salvation, living new.

God’s love for us was manifested so

He sent his Son to us so we could know.
