What Difference Does It Make?

“What difference does it make?”

Those five words, spoken by Hillary Clinton on January 23, 2013 during the Senate Foriegn Relations Committee, sum up the indifference and self-serving callousness of this woman, who was responsible for the safety and security of the Americans in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012 (less than two months before the US Presidential election, btw).

What difference does it make, Mrs. Clinton? Let me tell you. It makes a lot of difference for a lot of reasons.

First of all, it makes a difference knowing now that there were almost 600 requests and calls of concern about the lack of security from Embassy staff in the year 2012. A January 26, 2016 Washington Post article stated:

Let’s first stipulate that there is no debate that security was inadequate in Benghazi. Four Americans died. Even the State Department Accountability Review Board report that many Republicans…

To My Christian Friends and Fellow Voters

christianvoting

I’d like to speak to Christians now. Especially those of you who wanted a staunch and solid Christian candidate to win the nomination. I know you don’t want to vote for Donald Trump in the general election. His words sometimes reflects a man who is not washed in the blood of the Lamb. As if any of us are any better, though, right? Still, you may sincerely feel that he does not represent the values and principles of a serious Christian, and therefore you just can’t bring yourself to cast your vote for him. I’d like for you to think about it, though, because the choices made this election are going to hold influence over the lives of your children, your grandchildren, and generations to come.

You don’t need me to tell you that by not voting for Donald Trump you might be letting a vote for Hillary Clinton go…

The Face of Terror

Here I sit once again in the comfort of my home, reading and watching news reports about yet another terrorist attack. A CNN anchor gives a live interview with a trembling young man – identified as Paul Delane – standing directly in front of a police barricade used to shield the press and public from the gruesome remnants of the night before. This man had been interviewed the night before on the phone, and had given an emotional account of being in a packed crowd that suddenly turned into a sea of screaming people running away from something that he couldn’t see. His trembling voice cracked as he said he began to run with the frighted throng, not knowing what caused this, but picking up on the panic of those around him. As far as witnesses go, he offered very little information regarding the actual terror attack, but as I…

I was born in the Deep South. It’s so deep a fart will fly over your head. The Deep South is about five trillion miles closer to the sun, too. If you stand on the roof of the Walmart in Meridian, Mississippi, you can light your cigarette off it. This proximity to the sun makes it harder to think, too. That’s why Southerners speak slower than their Yankee neighbors. Words tend to melt before they get out of the mouth. Even the words that DO manage to survive end up like Velveeta in the microwave. Southerners usually speak their minds, too, because thoughts evaporate quicker than cotton candy in a fish tank. I could go on like this forever, but because I live in the Deep South, my attention span doesn’t make it past the medulla oblongata.

One of the consequences of the Southerner’s brain being deep fat fried…

Broken

My left shoulder was so damaged that the Ortho Drs could not repair or replace it conventionally, so they had to do a ‘reverse total shoulder arthroplasty’. I am now in a large, bulky and cumbersome immobilization device designed to keep my shoulder from falling apart until it’s had time to heal. This could take up to two months.

From the instant I awoke in recovery I was in the clutches of pain I’d never known or imagined. At one point I began confessing to every crime committed in the past 1,500 years. Even now, 6 days after surgery and at home, it continues to demand center stage of my consciousness. However, from the instant I awoke in recovery and up to now, the image and presence of Christ has been with me like a lighthouse of love and hope. It has not reduced my pain by one iota, but…

3-1-16: An Unexpected Turn of Events

jaytharding's avatarBack of the Choir

My friends,

As you will soon discover, I’ve got very little energy today to relate the accounts of the past few days, so I’m going to use an edited version of this email to post as a blog article so that those who read my words on a regular basis will know why they haven’t heard from me for awhile.

My sister Marie and I drove to Houston without incident to retrieve our sister Beth’s ashes and to join in grieving our loss and celebrating her gain with her daughter and our niece. Beth’s cremains were to be made available Friday afternoon, so while the women went to the facility to get them, my niece’s husband Jonathan and I went to the theater to see a movie.

When the movie was over both Jonathan and I had to go to the bathroom, so we left the darkened theater with that…

2-26-16 Seeking Riches

jaytharding's avatarBack of the Choir

greed

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

1 Timothy 6:9 KJV

           ~~~~~~~~~~~
Too much can not be said about the sin
Of seeking to be rich above all else,
For when the lust for gold within begin,
The love of God and Christ most surely melts.
A strong foundation builds a sturdy house,
So let the Rock of Ages cleft for you,
But if you build on greed you then espouse
The love for worldly things you should eschew.
A foolish man will do some hurtful things
In order to obtain abundant wealth.
It’s hard to stem the selfishness this brings
And easy to forget supernal health.
           Put all your faith in Heaven’s Kingdom now
           Don’t…
