Getting the Last Word

last words

I’m thinking of making the following my last words:

My nose is cold

my toes got mold

Don’t be worried, or worse, jealous. If you want to say them, be my guest. I can always think of something else.

It’s actually quite difficult to carry out specific last words. If you try it, and then let me know how it went. Most of the time we’ve got no idea that moment has come. Just ask the late great poet Louisa May Alcott, who died March 6, 1888. She probably could have picked a couplet from any one of the thousands of poems she penned, and no doubt had a few of them in mind to say if given the chance. She was having the stroke that killed her, but evidently she wasn’t sure what was happening because she asked “Is it not meningitis?” I suppose she could have said a…

9-3-15 Here We Go

satan-clutching-the-world

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

10Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

Isaiah 30:9-11

~~~~~~~~~~~
The day has come when evil’s in full bloom,
Completely unafraid of consequence,
Destroying children in their mother’s womb
And lacking any hint of moral sense.
The leaders of the earth are fraudulent;
The laws they pass promote such wickedness.
The young walk through the streets so discontent,
With heads replete with rage and wild distress.
The truth is now despised, it’s lies they want,
And any talk of God is shouted down.
The reprobate advance the cause they…
9-2-15 Consider the Lilies
28 And why take ye thought for raiment?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Matthew 6:28-29 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

We worry far too much on earthly things,

The ones of us who are not destitute,

And even indigents and poor who clings

Don’t walk around in their own birthday suit.

We color coordinate, accessorize,

Buy far too many shoes for our two feet,

And then we walk the mall with googly eyes,

And notice what is worn by those we meet.

Just step out side, the wildest flower calls

To show you what the Lord has dressed them in,

And O! their perfect beauty shames the malls,

Yet neither do they work, nor do they spin.

The more time that…

9-1-15 On Speaking in Tongues

jaytharding's avatarBack of the Choir

tongues

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

1 Corinthians 14:2-4 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
There’s nothing wrong with speaking unknown tongues,
Unless you’re teaching Sunday School in church.
God gave you vocal chords and also lungs
To worship Him, not leave us in the lurch.
The Spirit speaks the truth into the heart,
And sometimes whispers secrets unrevealed.
Such mysteries remain so from the start
Unless a translator is there to yield. 1
If you’re to lead your brethren into war
It’s so important they know what you mean.
An unknown call in battle they’ll ignore, 2
So speak commands…
