Just as a newborn babe needs milk to live,

Desire the word of God to feed your soul;

Without it’s nourishment you fail to give

The sustenance you need to make you whole.

Essential truths within the gospel form

A base to grasp much deeper certainties;

The language fundamentals soon transform

What once was gibberish to spoken ease.

How can you understand God’s awsome grace

Unless you know what Jesus did for you?

How can you hope to win the final race

Unless you train your muscles to push through?

Your spirit cries in hunger for the Word;

The Savior’s gentle teachings are preferred.

As newborn babes,

desire the sincere milk of the word,

that ye may grow thereby:

Before creation God was One in Three;

Eternal, always Now and always Here.

He opened up His mouth and uttered “BE,”

Establishing at once all you endear.

The heaven and the earth was not, then was;

O friend, can you imagine that decree?

Give praise to God Almighty, the First Cause,

Who set the stars in motion with one “BE!”

The Author of all things, your life conferred.

From galaxies to e’en the lowly flea,

The universe in place with “LET THERE BE!”

Beware the idle words that you would say,

The boastful, hurtful things slid off your tongue;

You’ll hear them once again on judgment day,

And you will be ashamed of all that dung.

You tell a dirty joke in whispered tone,

Make fun of other people to your friend,

But every syllable you’ll one day own,

And how will you to Jesus then defend?

It’s easier to go along the crowd,

Than keep your mouth shut or not go at all;

Make sure the things you say will make God proud,

For they will be repeated in His hall.

If you must speak, tell all about your Lord,

For everything you say will be restored.
